how to open and close the fusuma door
before opening the fusuma door, sit in front of the door on your knees. then use the hand farthest from where the door opens to grasp the handle and open the fusuma door about one-third its length. then change hands and push the lower part of the door to open it. before closing the door, also sit on your knees, then use the hand farthest from where the door opens to pull the lower edge of the door about two-thirds its length to close it. then use your other hand to grasp the handle and completely close the door.
